At Primary 4–6, Basic Digital Literacy appears as a curriculum area. At JSS 1–3, the revised offering includes Digital Technologies.
Literacy remains one of the most important foundations of the revised curriculum.
But effective literacy instruction should not stop at getting pupils to recognise letters, pronounce words or memorise vocabulary.
The New Revised Basic Education Curriculum developed by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) is designed to make learning more relevant to the skills, knowledge and realities that Nigerian children need today. Rather than focusing only on academic content, the revised curriculum places greater emphasis on foundational learning, digital competence, citizenship, practical skills, creativity and the ability to apply knowledge.
